Durant is a small agricultural town of about 2,100 people in central Mississippi's Holmes County. Located along Highway 12 about 15 miles west of I-55, it's easily reached from Jackson (45 miles southeast) or Memphis (120 miles north). The town sits amid cotton fields and timberland in the eastern Mississippi Delta, serving as the Holmes County seat with its 1908 courthouse anchoring the historic town square.
