Durand is a small farming town of 1,600 people in northwestern Illinois, about 15 miles from Rockford near the Wisconsin border. Take US Route 20 west from Rockford to Route 75 north, or exit I-90 at Route 20 if coming from Chicago. The town sits on flat prairie land surrounded by corn and soybean fields. Durand was the original home of Wahl Clipper Corporation, the hair clipper company founded here in 1919.
