Dune Acres is a tiny lakefront community of 293 people squeezed between Lake Michigan and the Indiana Dunes National Park in Porter County. Access is mainly via US Route 12 from I-80/94, creating a scenic but sometimes slow drive through the dunes. The town maintains exclusive private beach access and some of the last undeveloped Lake Michigan shoreline, protected by 1920s-era restrictive covenants.
