Dover is a small river town of 792 people along US Highway 2 in northern Idaho, about 15 miles from Sandpoint. The highway connects directly to Spokane and provides the main route to Washington state. The town sits on the Pend Oreille River beneath forested hills, with winter snow making mountain driving challenging. The 1929 concrete arch bridge carrying Highway 2 across the river serves as Dover's most recognizable landmark.
