Dover, Delaware's capital, sits in the center of the state about 45 miles south of Wilmington via Route 1 from I-95. US Route 13 runs right through town as the main drag, connecting north to Wilmington and south toward the beaches. Most out-of-state visitors take I-95 to Route 1, while regional traffic uses US 13 or Route 8 from Maryland. The city hosts Dover Air Force Base, which serves as the nation's primary military mortuary facility.
