Douglas is a small Marshall County town of about 1,100 people in northeastern Alabama's Appalachian foothills. Take Highway 69 north from Guntersville (15 miles) or US 431 from Huntsville (30 miles) through rolling farmland. Long-distance visitors use I-65 to US 431 from Birmingham or Nashville. The town claims the Horton Mill Covered Bridge, the highest covered bridge above water in America at 70 feet over the Warrior River.
