Dobson, the Surry County seat, sits in North Carolina's foothills about 45 minutes from Winston-Salem via US 52 north to I-77, then US 601 north from Exit 93. The town connects regionally through US 601, with Mount Airy 15 miles north and Charlotte 90 minutes south on I-77.
