Dixmoor is a small city in southern Cook County, about 25 miles south of Chicago via Interstate 57. The main access points are the 147th Street and Sibley Boulevard exits off I-57, with Route 1 (Halsted Street) running along the eastern edge. Most residents commute north to Harvey or Riverdale for Metra train connections to downtown Chicago. The historic Dixmoor Community Center has anchored the community since the 1960s.
