DISH is a tiny Texas town of about 540 people located 35 miles northwest of Dallas in Denton County. Most visitors arrive via I-35E north from Dallas to US-380 west, or I-35W north from Fort Worth to US-380 east, then take local roads into town. The community sits on rolling North Texas prairie and experiences hot summers and mild winters with occasional ice storms. DISH got its distinctive name in 2005 when residents voted to rename their town from Clark in exchange for ten years of free satellite TV from DISH Network.
