Dimmitt is a farming town in the Texas Panhandle, about 70 miles southwest of Amarillo via US 385. The county seat of Castro County sits on the High Plains among corn and wheat fields. Highway 86 runs east-west through town toward Tulia, while 385 continues north to Hereford and Interstate 40. The 1939 Art Deco courthouse downtown is visible for miles across the flat agricultural landscape.
