Diehlstadt is a tiny farming community in Missouri's Scott County, reached via I-55 to Route 80 west from Sikeston. The area sits on flat Mississippi River floodplain with scattered farms connected by county roads. Most residents drive 15 miles to Sikeston for services, while longer trips use I-55 north to St. Louis or south to Memphis. The community preserves its German heritage in some of the older farmstead buildings from the 1800s Diehl family settlement.
