Dickinson is a Galveston County city about 30 miles southeast of Houston, connected by Highway 3 and nearby I-45. The area serves as a suburban hub for Houston commuters and a gateway to Galveston's beaches. The flat coastal prairie experiences typical Gulf Coast weather with hot, humid summers and mild winters. Dickinson Bayou famously hosted NASA astronaut training, including underwater simulations for the Apollo missions.
