Dexter is a small farming town of 350 people in southeastern Minnesota, about 12 miles northeast of Austin via Highway 56. Most visitors arrive from the Twin Cities by taking I-35 south to I-90 west, then north on Highway 56. The town sits amid rolling prairie farmland and is dominated by its towering 1950s-era grain elevator that still operates during harvest season.
