Dexter is a farming town of 620 people about 30 miles west of Des Moines via Highway 6. Most traffic uses Highway 6 to reach Interstate 35 near Adel for metro area access. The town sits in rolling agricultural land with a working 1920s grain elevator that's visible for miles across the prairie.
