Des Arc is a tiny Iron County community of 181 people tucked into the Missouri Ozarks. Reach it via Highway 72 from Ironton, about 15 miles west, or connect through Highway 21 from the north through Mark Twain National Forest. Most visitors are locals from nearby Pilot Knob or Arcadia. The town's name comes from French explorers who noted a distinctive bow-shaped creek bend in the area.
