Delta is a small farming town of about 530 people in southeastern Missouri's Cape Girardeau County. Drive Highway 25 north from Cape Girardeau for 15 miles, or take I-55 to reach the area from St. Louis or Memphis. The town sits on flat Mississippi River floodplain farmland and lies within the New Madrid Seismic Zone, site of the powerful 1811-1812 earthquakes that briefly reversed the Mississippi River's flow.
