Delano anchors California's Central Valley farming region along Highway 99, about 30 miles north of Bakersfield. The city connects to major destinations via Highway 99 north to Fresno and south toward LA, with Route 155 heading west to the coast. Known as the birthplace of César Chávez's United Farm Workers movement, Delano still houses the original union headquarters where the historic grape boycotts began.
