Del Norte is a small county seat in Colorado's San Luis Valley, sitting at nearly 8,000 feet between mountain ranges. US 160 runs right through town, connecting to Alamosa 25 miles east and continuing west toward Durango. Most traffic is local folks heading to Alamosa for services, plus tourists passing through to the Great Sand Dunes or southwestern Colorado. The town's main claim to fame is the Ski-Hi Stampede rodeo, which has run every summer since 1924 in the same arena on Main Street.
