Deer Grove is a tiny farming community of just 36 people in rural Whiteside County, about 100 miles west of Chicago. Take I-88 west to Dixon, then Route 2 north, or approach from the Quad Cities via US-30 through Sterling. The area sits amid rolling prairie farmland with a continental climate. Despite its size, the town still operates its own post office, a holdover from its 19th-century role as a local farm hub.
