De Kalb is a small county seat in east-central Mississippi, about 80 miles west of Meridian via Highway 16. The town of 800 sits at the intersection of highways 16 and 493 in rolling pine country. Drivers use Highway 16 east to reach I-20 at Meridian for longer trips. The 1912 courthouse anchors the town square with its distinctive classical revival design.
