Dayton is a small farming town in central Iowa, about 20 miles southeast of Fort Dodge via Highway 175. The main route from Des Moines takes Highway 17 north through Boone, then Highway 175 west for roughly 50 miles. The town sits in rolling prairie country surrounded by corn and soybean fields, with a historic grain elevator that towers over the landscape and remains visible for miles around.
