Danville sits along Interstate 74 in east-central Illinois, about two hours south of Chicago and 30 minutes east of Champaign-Urbana. The city straddles the Vermilion River on rolling prairie terrain. I-74 provides the main east-west connection, linking directly to Indianapolis and Chicago, while US Routes 150 and 136 handle local traffic through downtown and surrounding farm communities. The Vermilion County War Museum displays an impressive collection of military vehicles, including a rare German Panzer tank.
