Damascus is a tiny farming town in southwestern Georgia near the Alabama border. US Highway 27 runs north-south through town, connecting to Bainbridge 25 miles south and Columbus 60 miles northeast, while State Route 62 heads east-west to other Early County communities. The town sits in rolling agricultural country along the Chattahoochee River valley. Damascus has one of Georgia's smallest post offices, still serving as the community's social hub.
