Most visitors pass through on the north-south route between Colorado and South Dakota, or stop while traveling between Denver and the Black Hills. The town sits at 4,100 feet elevation surrounded by wheat fields and rangeland. Its grain elevator, run by the local cooperative, towers over the prairie and serves as a landmark visible for miles across the flat landscape.
