Cutler is a small Perry County town of about 300 people in southern Illinois farm country. Take Route 154 to get there, connecting west to Highway 3 near Red Bud or east to I-57 through Pinckneyville. It's about 45 miles from St. Louis and sits near Pyramid State Recreation Area, where old strip mines have become fishing lakes and wildlife habitat.
