Cumberland sits in western Maryland's mountain country where I-68 and US 220 intersect. The main routes include I-68 east to Baltimore (130 miles) and west to Morgantown (45 miles), plus US 220 north to Pennsylvania. The Greater Cumberland Regional Airport is 10 miles south of downtown. The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad runs vintage trains through the Appalachian foothills to Frostburg.
