Cuba is a tiny Alabama town of 368 people in Sumter County, reached via Highway 17 from Livingston or Butler. Most visitors drive about 90 miles from Birmingham through Tuscaloosa, or up from Mobile via Highway 43. The town sits in Alabama's Black Belt region with its characteristic rolling hills. Nobody's quite sure why it's called Cuba, making it one of the state's most mysteriously named places.
