Crowley Lake is a high desert community of about 1,000 people in eastern California's Mono County, sitting at 6,700 feet elevation near the reservoir that gives it its name. Most visitors arrive on US Highway 395, the main Eastern Sierra route, either driving 280 miles north from LA or 150 miles south from Reno. Mammoth Yosemite Airport is 15 miles north for fly-in visitors. The 183,465 acre-foot reservoir, created in 1941 by LA's water department, draws serious trout anglers from across the West.
