Crouch is a tiny mountain town of 214 people along the Middle Fork Payette River, about an hour northeast of Boise on Highway 55. It's the gateway to Payette National Forest recreation areas and a popular stop for Boise-area residents heading to outdoor activities. The scenic drive follows the river through mountain country, connecting to McCall 25 miles north. The town's post office has operated since 1902 in its original wooden building.
