Cross Timber is a small Johnson County city of 875 people, located 35 miles southwest of Dallas off I-35W at Exit 26. Most visitors take FM 917 west from the interstate, while locals use the same road to reach Burleson or commute to DFW. The city sits in the historic Cross Timbers region, named for the dense oak forests that early settlers found nearly impossible to navigate.
