Crooks is a small farming town about 15 miles northwest of Sioux Falls, reached via I-90 Exit 406 and local roads through agricultural country. Highway 11 runs north-south through town, connecting to Sioux Falls in 20 minutes and continuing toward Dell Rapids. The volunteer fire department, operating from a 1995-built station, serves the town and surrounding rural areas.
