Crewe is a small railroad town in south-central Virginia, accessible via US Route 460 and about 60 miles southwest of Richmond. The community developed around Norfolk Southern's major rail junction, where freight lines converge from across the region. Visitors typically arrive via US 460 from Farmville or Blackstone, with the town serving as a waypoint on longer east-west journeys. Norfolk Southern still operates one of its largest classification yards here, where massive freight trains are assembled daily.
