Crete is a college town 25 miles southwest of Lincoln via Highway 33, home to about 7,500 people and Doane University. Most traffic comes from Lincoln or connects to Interstate 80 through nearby interchanges. The town celebrates its Czech heritage each summer with a festival featuring traditional kolaches and folk dancing.
