Creswell is a small Washington County town of about 217 people in northeastern North Carolina's agricultural flatlands. US Highway 64 is the main route through town, connecting east to the Outer Banks and west toward Raleigh. The humid subtropical climate brings hot summers and mild winters typical of the coastal plain. Somerset Place Historic Site preserves an antebellum plantation that operated from 1785 to 1865, now documenting the region's complex history.
