Cresson is a small mountain town in central Pennsylvania, about 20 miles northeast of Johnstown via US Route 22. At over 2,000 feet elevation in the Alleghenies, it sits along the main east-west corridor connecting to I-99 near Altoona. Route 53 runs north-south through town to smaller communities. The massive abandoned Cresson Sanatorium, visible from Route 22, once treated tuberculosis patients from 1913 to 1964.
