Crescent is a small Iowa farming town of 549 people, about 15 miles northeast of Council Bluffs in the Omaha metro area. Take Highway 183 from Interstate 680 near Honey Creek, or approach from the east on County Road L34 through rolling agricultural country. The town sits near the unique Loess Hills, rare wind-formed soil deposits found only here and in China's Yellow River valley.
