Crawford is a small farming town in Nebraska's northwest corner, about 22 miles west of Chadron via US Highway 20. The main route brings visitors from Interstate 80 north through Alliance or North Platte, then west on US-20. At 3,700 feet elevation, it sits where the Great Plains start climbing toward the Rockies. The town of 878 people serves as the gateway to Fort Robinson State Park, where Crazy Horse surrendered in 1877.
