Crainville is a small Illinois town of 1,600 people along Route 13, about 15 miles east of Carbondale. Most visitors arrive via I-57 to Route 13, while locals commute west to Carbondale for work and shopping. Veterans Airport of Southern Illinois sits just northeast of town with a 5,500-foot runway serving general aviation.
