Cowpens is a small town of about 1,800 people in upstate South Carolina, 15 miles northwest of Spartanburg via I-85 and Highway 11. It's known for Cowpens National Battlefield, where American forces won a crucial Revolutionary War victory in 1781 with a brilliant tactical maneuver that took just 17 minutes.
