Cottondale is a small city of about 800 people in northwest Florida's Jackson County, about 60 miles from Tallahassee. Take I-10 to Exit 142, then head north on State Road 71 for eight miles to reach downtown. The area sits in rolling hill country with pine forests and farmland, experiencing typical Panhandle weather with hot summers and mild winters. The town grew around the historic Marianna and Blountstown Railroad, and you can still see remnants of the old rail infrastructure that supported the early 1900s logging industry.
