Cotter is a tiny community in southeastern Iowa's farm country, reachable via Highway 61 from Muscatine or through local roads from Highway 92. The area sits in the Iowa River bottomlands with rich agricultural soils. Most traffic consists of farm equipment and commuters heading to Muscatine or Burlington. The old cemetery contains limestone markers from German and Irish families who settled here in the 1800s.
