Cottageville is a small Lowcountry town of 1,200 people in Colleton County, reached via I-95 Exit 57 to Highway 15 south. It's about 45 miles from Charleston and 12 miles from Walterboro along Highway 15, the main north-south route. The Lowcountry Regional Airport serves the area for general aviation. The town hosts an annual Rice Festival each April celebrating the crop that once thrived in these coastal plains.
