Cosmopolis is a small timber town along the Chehalis River in western Washington, about 15 miles inland from the Pacific. State Route 101 runs right through town, connecting it to Aberdeen three miles south and continuing to Olympic National Park. Most visitors come via SR 8 from Olympia, then SR 101 through Aberdeen. The town's sawmill has operated continuously since 1895, still processing river-floated logs the traditional way.
