Cortez is southwestern Colorado's gateway to Mesa Verde National Park and the Four Corners region. US Highway 160 runs right through town, connecting to Durango 45 miles east and Four Corners 40 miles west, while Highway 145 heads north toward Dolores. Cortez Municipal Airport handles regional flights just southwest of downtown, and the Holiday Twin Drive-In has been showing movies under the stars since 1955.
