Cornell is a small Wisconsin city of 1,300 people in Chippewa County, accessible via Highway 27 from Interstate 94 near Chippewa Falls. The main routes include Highway 27 north to Ladysmith and south to Chippewa Falls, plus Highway 64 east-west to Bloomer. It's surrounded by rolling farmland and patches of northern forest. The town's 1907 Carnegie Library remains one of Wisconsin's few still operating in its original building.
