Corcoran is a small city in western Hennepin County, about 25 miles northwest of Minneapolis. Highway 55 runs east-west through town, connecting directly to Plymouth and the Twin Cities metro, while County Road 19 provides the main north-south route. Most visitors take I-494 to Highway 55, a common route for metro residents heading to area lakes. The city maintains its rural character with large lots and surrounding farmland, and its city hall still operates from a converted 1950s schoolhouse with original chalkboards in the meeting rooms.
