Coquille is a timber town of 4,000 people sitting 20 miles inland from Oregon's coast along the Coquille River. Highway 42 runs right through town, connecting to I-5 near Roseburg (60 miles east) and the coastal towns of Bandon and Coos Bay to the west. The 1896 Coquille River Lighthouse still operates as a working beacon and houses a maritime museum.
