Cooperstown, a village of 2,200 in central New York's lake country, sits about 70 miles west of Albany along Otsego Lake. Most visitors drive I-88 to Exit 17, then Route 80 north for 10 miles. The National Baseball Hall of Fame downtown houses Babe Ruth's actual called-shot bat from 1932.
