Converse is a small Louisiana town of about 450 people in Sabine Parish, near the Texas border. It's accessible via Highway 191, about 45 miles south of Shreveport via I-49 and Highway 171. The area is known for pine forests and timber country. Converse is the birthplace of country music star Hank Williams Jr.
