Confluence sits where three rivers meet in southwestern Pennsylvania's Somerset County, creating the Youghiogheny River. This town of 577 lies along historic US Route 40 about 75 miles southeast of Pittsburgh. Most visitors arrive via US 40 from either direction or US 219 from Interstate 68. The area serves as a gateway to outdoor recreation, particularly the Great Allegheny Passage rail-trail. The town's 1913 stone arch bridge carrying US 40 over the Casselman River is one of America's longest single-span stone arch bridges.
